A Couple’s Dark & Fang-Tastic Halloween Boudoir

As an artist, you need to think outside the box and try new things to stir authentic creativity which also leads to growth. I HATE everything about Halloween, I HATE all things creepy and scary, this was my first try at shooting for more dark and moody feels, and I was unsure about diving into couple’s boudoir. So this whole session was a learning experience, but it was an absolute blast.
This past fall I did a model call for this specific shoot I had envisioned, and I had my ideal couple apply and be so excited about it! They live for Halloween, came with all sorts of fun stuff and together we created some fang-tastic magic!
We started off with an old world vampire feel in the cedar swamp on the studio property with dress pants and suspenders, red wine lace gown… and some fangs. Some fun light play that I usually don’t go for, but this had just the right vibe. Then we moved to a neighboring corn field and pulled out some Mike Meyers vibes as he “chased” his chick down through the stalks. Oh my gosh, we laughed so freaking hard creating this and I said that I would have nightmares for weeks!! But for real, who shows up to a portrait session with a full out Mike Meyers costume?! The absolute best clients.
“Most of my life I have struggled with my self image. Growing up I was overweight, and continued to struggle with weight into adulthood. When I finally got it under control I continued to have issues with how I looked. I booked a boudoir shoot with Amanda to boost my self confidence, and I could not have asked for a better experience!”
The fun continued for some more standard like couple’s boudoir shots both in the studio and outside on a moody bedroom set in the woods at sunset. I absolutely love outdoor boudoir, and its perfect since the studio sits on 20 wooded acres of diverse areas. I usually always go for a light and airy feel more so with white sheets, so this was my first take with grey. I.AM.IN.LOVE. Grey is my absolute favorite color this season going into the new year and brings an even more sassy feel mixed with the candlelight.
Before this session I worried that it would be awkward with having a guy posing with his half naked lady, but it was actually a ton of fun for both me and them. We definitely spent most of the time laughing! I had done a solo session with her previously but had never met her husband. She was super relaxed since she had already done a shoot with me, and that confidence carried over and really led her man. I am definitely open to the idea of couple’s boudoir after this shoot. This is what they had to say:

I instantly felt comfortable with her and felt no need to cover myself. My husband and I did a couple’s boudoir shoot a few months after my shoot, and Amanda pushed herself out of her own comfort zone to produce some amazing, personal shots that really emphasized our personalities. I had so much fun at both shoots, and plan to do more boudoir and family shoots in the future!

After seeing the amazing photos you took of [my wife], when she asked if I wanted to do a couple’s shoot, I was all for it! Her solo shoot pics are sexy, tasteful and simply put, beautiful. During our couple’s shoot I felt completely comfortable, cold lol, but comfortable. It was very tough going through and picking out the ones for our book because they were so fantastic. The shoot was so fun. We will be doing another one and we can’t wait.
